Kostas Philippopoulos is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has gained his PhD from the same University and his thesis title was “Spatio-temporal modeling of meteorological parameters over complex terrain with the use of artificial neural networks”. His research interests include climate change and variability, renewable energy, urban climatology, machine learning and artificial neural networks. He has conducted research at the University of Reading entitled ‘Understanding the effect of atmospheric circulation on wind energy production variations - A synoptic climatological approach’, funded by the UK National Center for Atmospheric Science (NCAS). He is currently undertaking postdoctoral research at the Climate and Climatic Change Group funded by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) in the field of climate change and renewable energy. His publication record consists of 60 research articles published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, proceedings of conferences and chapters in international books and has participated in 5 research projects.
